“From Niigata” Austin, 2023
We went to a potluck party and enjoyed some yummy food and drinks. I particularly liked the designs on these two, both from Niigata. The napping bear is so great.

Today I re-watched “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” since I hadn’t seen it since it came out in theaters way back in 2008. I enjoyed it then, and was curious if I would still feel the same way. And yes, I think it’s a fun movie! I was surprised that I found Mutt Williams kind of an interesting character and Shia Labeouf did a pretty good job playing him.
What was kind of neat is that after seeing Harrison Ford in Dial of Destiny, he looked so young in Crystal Skull! I need to re-watch Temple of Doom now, and then I will be able to rate the Indy films from best to worst (for my own curiosity).

Today we saw “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny“. It was so fun! I’ve enjoyed all the Indy movies, and this one didn’t stray from the tried-and-true formula. The car chases were great, and I loved the sound effects. They were very “Indy-esque”!
As you can see in today’s blurry photo, I got a big bowl of “bottomless” popcorn. I usually finish the first, and eat about half of the second bowl, but today I just had the single. I even had my re-order paper ready to go, but I was just too full!

This evening my wife, son, and his girlfriend made homemade gyoza for dinner. It’s always fun to cook dinner at the table on the hotplate. I’ve mentioned it before, but the Tiger hotplate we have is so great. Recommended!

After days of clear skies, we were treated to a beautiful display of amazing clouds. It made today’s run much more fun!

And I noticed that a new bicycle maintenance thing-a-mo-bob was installed on the trail too. How cool is that?

I hope you had a nice day!

Today we celebrated my son’s birthday with a double-fried chicken dinner. One plate of regular Japanese karaage, and another plate with a sauce poured on top. Both were delicious!
And we also had a yummy Niçoise salad and cheese board. We ate so much! 😄

I decided to re-watch “The Secret World of Arrietty” after starting to learn “Arrietty’s Song” on the ukulele. It was delightful as I had forgotten how excellent the movie is. The artwork captivated me even more than before. Moreover, the English dub was pretty good, with Carol Burnett’s portrayal of Hara being just perfect. If you haven’t seen it before, I definitely recommend it. Or even to re-watch it as I did.
