My mom made a Jamaican feast for us this evening, and the star of the menu (for me, at least) was an amazing Escovitch Snapper. It was pan-fried whole, and then covered with a yummy, vinegary sauce. So delicious! Of course we had some other Jamaican staples, such as Jerk pork, stew peas, and plantain, but the fish was what I will remember most. 🐟❤🇯🇲

Ghibli Food

I know the general consensus is that the food in Ghibli movies looks amazingly delicious, but I’m going to have to say that it never seems appetizing to me. It always just looks flat and blah and I always think what a missed opportunity it was. It’s a shame that I cannot feel enthusiastic about the food, but I guess it’s just a psychological mismatch I will have to bear. I’m happy (and a bit jealous) for everyone who can get excited about it, though.

Anyways, I do follow illustrator Nabatame Kazutaka, whose food looks absolutely delicious to me. Just look at this curry and this shumai bento box! おいしそう!

For Koa’s birthday dinner, he requested karaage. I can’t blame him. Mariko’s karaage can’t be beat! I’m thinking about requesting it for my birthday dinner as well. 😄

Special Ramen (Clam Flavor)

A friend gave us some instant ramen that we’ve never had before, and it was delicious! Definitely only for those who love clams because the flavor was very strong. What was nice about this ramen besides the flavor was that the noodles were a step above the normal dry type. Definitely can recommend!
