This week, a lot of my coworkers came into town to meet in-person. It was so fun to see everyone’s faces during the day, and also have fun chatting with everyone after work. We all went to Austin Beerworks to hang out for a couple of hours. I’ve never been here before, so it was interesting to see the brewery that produces a lot of the beer we drink. In fact, our fridge has several cans of beer from Austin Beerworks in it right now. 😀

I Finally Watched La Dolce Vita

This afternoon, I watched Federico Fellini’s “La Dolce Vita”. What an odd movie! Watching the 1960 film in 2022 added another disorienting dimension for me and I couldn’t tell which parts were truly indicative of the times, and which were more fantastical versions. I suppose that added to the charm and mystery.

My favorite part of the film was when Marcello’s father came to visit. He seemed like the character who was most grounded in real life, which is probably why I enjoyed his scenes.

Overall, I am happy I watched to have finally watched this cinematic masterpiece, but I felt like I was watching from a great distance, both culturally and artistically.

Mariko bought some cat-shaped dishes for us to use! Aren’t they cute? I really like the spotted blue kitty.

In other breaking news, tax day is coming up here in the States. I started today, and will finish them tomorrow. It’s not too difficult to do, and we are expecting a little bit of a refund this year. Yay!

I hope you had a nice day! またね〜
