“Evening Clouds” Cedar Park, 2022
There were some pretty clouds this evening! In the future, I want to live in a place that has a better view of far-off clouds. But for now, views like this will have to do.

This year we celebrated Mother’s Day with our two kiddos at home. Our oldest son came back from college today so all four table chairs were all once again. 😀 As you can see from the photo above, we enjoyed delicious a temaki sushi set for dinner. And the owners of the sushi restaurant also included a special saké and some carnations, which is a tradition in Japan. It was super nice.
For gifts, I bought some candles from Emme Essentials and picked up a bouquet of flowers. The candles have a nice subtle fragrance, and since our family doesn’t like heavily scented candles, I think these are great. The wooden wick is special too!
I hope Mariko had a nice day with her kids and the goodies.

I spent most of the day binge-watching the 2017 Chinese television drama version of The Legend of the Condor Heroes. There are 52 episodes in total, and I think I made it up to episode 12 or so. It’s so good!
I am delighted that the characters match (more or less) the image I had when I was reading the books. Even the settings are how I thought they should look. And I am pleased that my favorite character, Cyclone Mei Chaofeng, is so sinister and deadly.
The kung fu moves are great as well – way more complex than I was expecting from a television series. Very impressive.
So far, the plot is sticking close to the books, but they did expand upon things a little bit (in good ways). I just hope that the villains stay villains. There are some signs that one of them might actually become good (please no!!!) but we’ll see.
For now, I am enjoying this series a lot!

This evening I finished A Heart Divided, which is book four of The Legends of Condor Heroes series. I was actually standing at the kitchen island, reading and drinking shochu, because if I lie down or sit down to read, I’ll almost immediately fall asleep not matter how good or exciting the book is. And A Heart Divided is excellent. It’s a series that I look forward to reading every night!
I’m a bit sad that I am finished, but also excited because I can now start watching the 2017 Chinese tv series! I wanted to finish the books first, and keep my imagination’s versions of the characters untainted by actors. 😀 It’ll be interesting to see how close the casting of the tv series comes to my mind’s eye.
