こんばんは。This year, we celebrated Father’s Day one day early because the whole family wouldn’t be together on Sunday. So, I had my choice as to where to eat for dinner, but I really didn’t have any idea. After looking on Yelp, I decided to try Dimassi’s Mediterranean Buffet, which has been around for years, but we had never been to. Honestly, from the outside it doesn’t look too inviting, so we always dismissed it, but checking on Yelp, I saw that the reviews were actually quite good.

The variety of food was surprising, and the taste was yummy! There was gyro, shawarma, hummus, baba ghanoush, grape leaves, naan, salads, fish, curry soup, etc. And two kinds of baklava! Weekend price for the buffet was about $16 which is not bad.

I’m very happy that we finally decided to give Dimassi’s a try. I think we’ll be back again!

こんばんは。How’s it going?

I’m sure many people who eat instant ramen like to “fancy it up” with extra ingredients from the fridge, right? My go-to is always an egg that I will drop in with two minutes to go on the timer, but for the Korean Ramyun I enjoyed today, I added a healthy amount of kimchee. It’s just so yummy! Now that I think about it, I don’t know why I am not adding nori to my ramen too. We usually have some on-hand in the freezer so there’s no excuse not to.

I’ve been enjoying the Spicy Fish from Asia Café for years now, and it surprises me that the taste is still as I remember the first time I ate it. The to-go container has changed a couple of times (and the portion my be slightly smaller) but the flavor is still yummy, oily, and hot. It’s great! I’m not sure what kind of fish fillet they actually use, but someone once said it was catfish. But another person said tilapia. I guess I could just ask the restaurant next time, but I like the mystery of not knowing. 😆

I hope you had a nice day!

Goodbye, Braun Coffee Mill

こんばんは。How’s it going?

Sadly, our Braun Coffee Mill finally died. It served us well for maybe 18 years or so, and just a couple of weeks ago I was thinking about how amazing it was that it was still going strong after all this time. Well, that may have jinxed it because the motor started having a little trouble a couple of days ago, and then today it stopped altogether. 😢 But wow, I can’t complain! It did its job well.

But hey, I needed to make coffee so I got out our antique coffee grinder, and got to work. This little thing is actually pretty good! It’s a Burr-type, but it takes a while to grind by hand and I don’t want to do it every morning.

Therefore, I went online and ordered a new coffee grinder. I’ll post about it after I’ve tried it, but I’m excited about using it. Like the hand grinder, the new one is also a Burr grinder, whereas the Braun was a blade-type, which cuts the beans. Burr grinders crush the beans and it’s supposed to yield tastier coffee… I guess we’ll soon find out!

Hamburg Steak

Dinner tonight was Hamburg Steak. It’s a popular dish in Japan, and Mariko made a sweet teriyaki-style sauce for it which made it even more delicious. A small salad, miso soup (made with homemade miso), and fluffy rice make it a perfect meal. 😌

I hope you had a nice day!
