El Arroyo is a Tex-Mex Restaurant here in Austin, and they are famous for the funny messages they put on their sign. It’s the first time I’ve seen one of their yard signs in action, though! Pretty cool, although I know who I’m voting for, and it’s not a refrigerator. 😄

I hope you had a nice day!

I just love the illustrations on these Japanese Halloween candies. So cute! 🎃👻

For some reason, I am enjoying the change of seasons from Summer to Autumn a lot this year. I’m guessing it has to do with the pandemic lock-down lifestyle, but not sure exactly… Anyways, I’ll enjoy the feeling, whatever the reasons.

Autumn Nabe

Although the weather here is still warm, the feeling of Autumn has arrived and that means it’s time to eat some cooler-weather food! Nabe is a hotpot type of dish, and today we had a yummy nabe of tofu, chicken meatballs, flat rice noodles, and assorted veggies. It was kind of a “clean out the fridge” meal, but oh-so-good!

The food was hearty and hot – in fact I was sweating a little bit during the meal. 😄

Virtual Saké Event

“Saké Tasting” Cedar Park, 2020

Tonight we joined a virtual saké event this evening hosted by our friends at Komé. We ordered a bottle of Nanbu Bijin “Tokubetsu Junmai” to taste along with the saké experts online, and then watched the film Kampai! For the Love of Sake. After the viewing, the group followed up with some final thoughts about the film and the saké, including a message from the head of the Nanbu Bijin brewery.

It was a nice, relaxing evening. 😊
